Powersupply

The power supply will manage the power that comes from the DB9 plug and is in charge of providing power to the CAN Bus transceiver and also to power BeagleBone. The regulator will have an input voltage up to 42V to allow the usage of this cape in vehicles using higher battery voltages and an output current up to 3A.

Car Communication

This section describes the interface to communicate with the car. The Cape communicates via the OBD2 connector with a car. The Cape has the abiltity to communicate via can. To communicate with a car, the Cape uses the OBD 2 Interface in each car to talk to. The connection between the car and the Cape will be connected with a standardized DB9toOBDII cable.

CAN Bus Transceiver

The CAN Bus transceiver uses only one CAN channel and converts data from standard UART communication (RXD/TXD) to CAN communication (CANH/CANL). The CAN Bus operates under the J-2285 Protocol and can be wired like in table 1.
